3.5 Precautions for Relay Output Modules

(1) The relay output module (RO663, RO662S) needs external 24Vdc power for driving
relays. (For details, see 2.3 I/O Module Specification.)
(2) Because the relay output module does not have a built-in fuse to protect from
overcurrent, install a fuse appropriate to the load current on the external wire. If the
protective fuse is not inserted, module patterns could be burn out when a load is
shorted.

(3) The relay output module is not equipped with the serge absorption element. To
connect inductive load, mount a serge absorption element in parallel with the load.
For selecting a serge absorption element, see the notes on using the DC output
module and the AC output module in relevant sections.
1. Mount a fuse suitable for current capacity to the external circuit for protecting the relay output
module from overload. Otherwise the module may be damaged or accidents may occur due
to load short circuit.
2. The contact relay used for relay output has contact life due to abrasion. Check the relay
contact life specified in this document so as not to use the relay beyond its service life. If the
relay has terminated its life, replace it with a new one.
The relay whose contact life is over may cause output errors due to insufficient contact,
which may result in damages to the module or accidents.
