    How to use your Silent Series piano Using your Silent Series piano as an ordi- nary piano is the same as using any other piano—the right pedal is the sustain pedal, and the left pedal is the soft pedal.     Reverb The Silent Series piano features sophisti- cated reverberation effects, which enhance the digital piano by adding natural ambi- ence to the sound. Setting the amount of reverb The amount of reverb applied to the digital piano sound is determined by the REVERB control on the control box.

    Polyphony Initially, the maximum number of notes that can be played simultaneously, with a stereo sampling sound, is 32 on the Silent Series piano.     Adjusting the Pitch Initially, the Silent Series piano is tuned to the standard Concert Pitch (A=440 hertz). The pitch, however, can be adjusted in one hertz steps from 438 to 445 hertz (one hertz is about four cents). Different pitches are sometimes used in vocal music and orches- tral performances.

The pitch can be tuned up or down 50 cents in 1.2 cent steps (100 cents equals 1 semitone). This allows you to achieve a per- fect tuning match between the Silent Series piano and another instrument, vocalist, or a slightly offspeed cassette player.
