Unpack
Note:
Do not open the ink cartridge packages until you are ready to
install the ink. Cartridges are vacuum packed to maintain reliability.

Remove all
protective materials
from the product.

Lift up the scanner unit until it locks into place and remove
all protective materials from inside the product.
Caution:
Do not touch the flat white cable.

Lower the scanner unit.

Turn on and configure

Connect the power cord to the back of the product and to
an electrical outlet.
Caution:
Do not connect to your computer yet.
Note:
If an error code appears, turn off the product and
check that no protective material has been left inside the
product.

Raise the control panel and turn on the product.

Select your language, country, date, and time on the
LCD screen.
Note:
You can change these settings later using the product's
control panel. For more information, see the online User's Guide.

Install ink cartridges
Caution:
Keep the ink cartridges out the reach of children and do not
drink the ink.
Note:
The included initial cartridges are designed for reliable printer
setup and cannot be used as replacement cartridges or resold. After
setup, the remaining ink is available for printing.

I have a new Epson 3820 Printer. I want to scan a document to a pdf file. Please give me instructions on how to do this.
To scan a document to a PDF file using the Epson WF-3820 printer with Epson Scan 2:
1. Load your document in the scanner.
2. Open Epson Scan 2 on your computer.
3. Choose your scan settings.
4. Click "Preview" and adjust the scan area if needed.
5. If using the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder), reload any ejected pages.
6. Set the "Image Format" to "PDF" or "Searchable PDF".
7. Click "Options" in the Image Format list.
8. In the "General" tab, select desired options.
9. In the "Text" tab, choose the correct language for OCR if using "Searchable PDF".
10. In the "Security" tab, set password or restrictions if needed.
11. Click "OK".
12. Choose the file name and folder to save the file.
13. Click "Scan".
The document is saved as a PDF.
