Online update sysgen procedure summary

XEROX DOCUPRINT 180 LPS SYSTEM GENERATION GUIDE
Use the following procedure when performing an online update
sysgen.
When to use
You can use the SYSGEN command to download SST files from a
host computer to an online-only or an online/offline switchable
printing system to generate a new system. This type of sysgen is
normally performed for the following purposes:
To add major new features to the existing operating system
To replace the existing version of the operating system with a
new version.
System disks are not formatted prior to an update sysgen. You do not
need to back up your files as long as there is sufficient
room on the disks to generate the new system.
Use the following procedure when performing a online update
sysgen.
Step 1.
Load the current sysgen processor into main memory.
Step 2.
Use a SYSGEN command to download the new sysgen processor
into the main memory.
Step 3.
Use another SYSGEN command to download system files that are
then used by the processor to build the new operating system.
Step 4.
Apply patches.
Note: An update sysgen resets the patch history file.
