Problems Receiving Faxes

Symptom
The received fax is blank.
The printer answers the
call, but will not accept
incoming data.
The received fax size is
reduced.
Faxes cannot be received
automatically.
Cause
There may be a problem with the
telephone connection or with the caller's
fax machine.
The sender may have loaded the pages
incorrectly.
Not enough memory.
The paper supply in the printer may not
match the document size sent.
The printer is set to receive faxes manually.
The memory is full.
The telephone line is incorrectly connected.
There may be a problem with the sender's
fax machine.
Solution
Check that the printer can make clean
copies. If it can, have the caller send
the fax again.
Contact the sender.
If the job contains several graphics, the
printer might not have enough
memory. The printer will not answer if
memory is low. Delete stored
documents and jobs and wait for the
existing job to complete. This will
increase available memory.
Confirm the original size of the
documents. Documents might be
reduced based on the available paper
supply in the printer.
Set the printer to automatic reception.
Load paper if it is empty, and then
print the faxes stored in the memory.
Check the telephone line connection. If
it is disconnected, connect it.
Make a copy to check that your printer
is operating correctly. If the copy prints
correctly, have the recipient check their
fax machine.
