Panasonic SC-AK27 Defect. I have stored 12 radio stations in memory and after working on the radio for 3 to 6 hours, the light on the CD (I have not inserted a CD), as well as on the TAPE, CD and TUNER stops and starts flashing. At the same time, the radio stations are lost from the memory! I have to turn it off, turn it on again, set the clock and store the radio stations in the memory again. How can I repair this defect?

The issue with the Panasonic SC-AK17, where radio stations are lost from memory and the CD, TAPE, and TUNER lights flash after several hours of use, is likely caused by a failing backup capacitor or power supply problem. Here's how to address it:
1. Unplug and Open the Unit: - Disconnect the power cord. - Remove the cover screws and carefully open the unit.
2. Locate the Backup Capacitor: - Find the main circuit board (usually where the tuner and memory components are). - Look for a capacitor labeled around 0.1F to 1F, usually rated at 5.5V or similar. It may be labeled as "backup" or "supercap."
3. Check the Capacitor: - Visually inspect for bulging, leaking, or corrosion. - Use a multimeter to check voltage retention after the unit is powered off. If it drops quickly, the capacitor is likely faulty.
4. Replace the Capacitor: - Desolder the faulty capacitor. - Solder in a new capacitor of similar value and voltage.
5. Check for Other Power Issues: - Inspect the power supply board for bad capacitors or cold solder joints. - Resolder any cracked joints and replace swollen capacitors.
6. Reassemble and Test: - Reassemble the unit. - Plug it in and store radio stations. - Leave it unplugged for a few hours and check if the memory holds and lights function normally.
If the problem continues, a deeper issue in the system control IC or EEPROM may exist, requiring professional repair.
