Engine
Engine replacement
LC48, LC53
Without blade clutch
Disconnect the engine brake cable.
Lift the engine brake handle away from
the lever arm.
Remove the blade.

Disconnect the engine brake cable as
follows:
1. Loosen the cable tension by moving
the lever arm on the engine forward
using a pair of fl at nosed pliers.
Alternative:
Push both sides of the engine brake handle
together so it can be removed from the
handlebar.
2. Unhook the cable from the engine
brake handle on the handlebar and the
mounting on the engine.
3. Clamp the sides together at the nipple
using a small pair of fl at nosed pliers
and lift away from the lever arm.
4. Remove the blade.

WARNING!
Check the spark plug
guard has been removed
from the spark plug to
prevent the engine from
starting accidentally.
Use protective gloves to
avoid cutting your hands.
Loosen the screw holding the blade and
remove it together with both washers.
