5.5.2 To remove and install the bevel gear
1. Remove the cutting attachment and the cutting
attachment guard.
2. Loosen the clamp screw and remove the bevel gear
from the shaft.
3. Install in the opposite sequence.
5.5.3 To disassemble the bevel gear
1. Remove the bevel gear from the shaft. Refer to
remove and install the bevel gear on page 21 .
2. Remove the snap ring that holds the output axle.
3. Remove the snap ring that holds the input axle.

4. Apply heat to the bevel gear housing until it is
approximately 110 °C. Tap the bevel gear against a
wooden block to remove the input axle assembly.
WARNING: Use protective gloves.
5. Remove the output axle assembly from the bevel
gear housing.

6. Use a bearing puller to remove the bearings from
the input axle and output axle. Put the bearing puller
in a vise to increase the power of the bearing puller
jaws.
