Visible bubbling or boiling when the container is removed from the microwave oven is not always present. A magnetron in the oven produces microwaves which reflect off the metal floor, walls and ceiling and pass through the turntable and appropriate cookware to the food. Microwaves are attracted to and absorbed by fat, sugar and water molecules in the food, causing them to move, producing friction and heat which cooks the food. -

Preset Cooking Times and cooking power have been preset for specific microwavable foods. Use the following chart as a guide. FOOD QUANTITY/INSTRUCTIONS Rice (sensor) 0.5-2 cups (125-500 mL)/ Use dish with loose-fitting lid. Let stand 5 minutes after cooking. Canned Vegetables 2 1-4 cups (250 mL-1 L)/ Place in microwavable container. -
