Table 5-3
Power‑up scenarios for non‑volatile SIMOTION data
Case
Initial condition
1
The non-volatile SIMOTION data is valid.
2
The non-volatile SIMOTION data is invalid and there
is no backup file (PMEMORY.XML) and no backup
copy of the backup file (PMEMORY.BAK).
3
The non-volatile SIMOTION data is invalid, backup file
(PMEMORY.XML) exists and is valid.
4
The non-volatile SIMOTION data is invalid, the backup
file is invalid and there is no backup copy of the backup
file (PMEMORY.BAK).
5
The non-volatile SIMOTION data is invalid; a backup
file exists, but it is invalid; a backup copy of the backup
file exists and is valid.
Non-volatile SIMOTION data diagnostics
The user can determine the state of the non-volatile SIMOTION data and the battery using the
diagnostic buffer, system variables, and PeripheralFaultTask.
Evaluating via the diagnostic buffer
When they are issued, the following messages are entered once in the diagnostic buffer:
Table 5-4
Messages of the diagnostic buffer
Entry
Level 1 battery voltage warning
Level 2 battery voltage warning
Battery voltage for data backup in permis‐
sible range
Non-volatile data memory voltage error
Non-volatile data loaded from a file
(Persistent Data File Loading done)
110
Meaning
Battery voltage below prewarning lev‐
1)
el.
The battery voltage is below the warn‐
1)
ing level, backup of real-time clock
(RTC) can no longer be guaranteed.
The battery voltage is in the permis‐
sible range for the backup of the real-
time clock (RTC).
The buffer voltage of the SuperCap
or the battery was too low after
switching on. Possible data loss in
the real-time clock.
Non-volatile SIMOTION data has
been successfully restored from the
backup file on the CF card.

Result
SIMOTION D4x5‑2 powers up with the non-volatile SIMO‐
TION data, i.e. with the PROFIBUS address in the non-
volatile data.
SIMOTION D4x5‑2 copies the default settings to the non-
volatile SIMOTION data and powers up with this data. In
this case, for example, the default PROFIBUS address is
used.
SIMOTION D4x5‑2 copies the backup file contents to the
non-volatile SIMOTION data and powers up with this data.
SIMOTION D4x5‑2 copies the default settings to the non-
volatile SIMOTION data and powers up with this data, in
which case, for example, the default PROFIBUS address
is used.
SIMOTION D4x5‑2 copies the backup file contents to the
non-volatile SIMOTION data and powers up with this data.
Remedy
