    OPERATION STARTING A COLD ENGINE 1. Lay the product on the ground, press the primer bulb 10 times, and then set the lever choke position. NOTE: The fuel should be visible in the primer bulb after the 7th press. 2. Hold down the throttle lock, squeeze the throttle trigger (through step 4), and then pull the starter grip until the engine starts.

    OPERATION STARTING A WARM ENGINE 1. Lay the product on the ground, press the primer bulb 10 times, and then set the choke lever to position 2. Hold down the throttle lock, squeeze the throttle trigger completely and then pull the starter grip until the engine starts.
  • Page 23 OPERATION STARTING COLD ENGINE ELECTRICAL STARTER 1. Install the starter bit into the electrical starter with the pentagon bit facing outside. Push the F/R button to the left until the pentagon symbol shows on the F/R button. 2. Insert the battery pack into the electrical starter until it clicks into place.
  • Page 24 OPERATION 4. Hold down the throttle lock and squeeze the throttle trigger (through step 6). Put the starter bit shaft to the shaft hole on the engine. Press and hold the electrical starter switch button until the engine attempts to start. Do not press the electrical starter for more than 4 seconds.

Push the F/R button to the left until the pentagon symbol shows on the F/R button. 2. Insert the battery pack into the electrical starter until it clicks into place.

    MAINTENANCE 3-4 mm ADJUSTING THE CHAIN 1. Turn off the product. 2. Using the combination wrench, loosen the bar nut of the drive case. 3. Lift the tip of the bar up to check for sag. Release the tip of the bar, and turn the chain tensioning screw 1/2 turn clockwise.
  • Page 28 MAINTENANCE REPLACING THE CHAIN BAR 1. Turn off the product. Using the combination wrench, remove the bar nut from the drivecase cover. 2. Remove the bar nut, drivecase cover, and chain bar. 3. Prepare the chainbar. Make sure the chain follows the correct direction as shown.
  • Page 29 MAINTENANCE 5. Place the drive case cover and install the bar nut. 6. Using the combination wrench, tighten the bar nut, finger tight only. The bar must be free to move for tension adjustment. 7. Remove all slack from chain by turning the chain tensioning screw clockwise, assuring that the chain seats into the bar groove during tensioning.
  • Page 30 MAINTENANCE REPLACING THE SPARK PLUG 1. Turn off the product 2. Open the rubber protect boot. Twist the metal spark plug boot and pull it away from the spark plug. Using a combination wrench, turn counterclockwise to loosen and remove the spark plug.

    Air filter cleaning MAINTENANCE CLEANING THE FILTER 1. Turn off the product. 2. Remove the air filter cover and the air filter. 3. Clean the air filter with warm, soapy water. 4. Rinse and dry the air filter completely.
  • Page 32 MAINTENANCE 5. Put two drops of lubricant into the air filter. Replace the air filter (fits only one way), and then replace the air filter cover. NOTE: The air filter should be replaced annually for best performance.

    MAINTENANCE CLEANING THE SPARK ARRESTOR 1. Turn off the product. 2. Remove the rear housing of the powerhead to access the muffler. 3. Loosen the screws from the muffler cover and then remove the muffler. 4. Remove the muffler from the muffler shield.
  • Page 34 MAINTENANCE 5. Clean the muffler with a small wire brush. 6. Loosen the screws securing the spark arrestor, and then detach it from the muffler. 7. Clean the spark arrestor with a small wire brush. 8. After cleaning, install the spark arrestor back to the muffler.
  • Page 35 MAINTENANCE 9. Install the muffler back to the muffler shield. 10. Insert the muffler back to rear part of the powerhead, and then tighten the screws to secure. 11. Place the rear housing and secure it with the five screws.

    MAINTENANCE CLEANING THE PRODUCT 1. Turn off the product, and allow it to cool down before cleaning. 2. Clean all foreign materials from the product. WARNING: Keep away from corrosive agents such as garden chemicals and deicing salts.
