Getting started Installation Install the telephone base close to a telephone jack and a power outlet not connected to a wall swtch. For optmum range and better recepton, place the telephone base n a central and open locaton. Dependng on the envronmental condtons, make sure that your Bluetooth enabled cellular phone s wthn 12 feet of where you nstall the telephone base n order to mantan a relable connecton between your Bluetooth cell phone, the telephone base, and a cell tower (see below).
Getting started Telephone base installation Install the telephone base as shown below. Make sure that the electrcal outlet s not controlled by a wall swtch. Also, f you receve hgh speed nternet through your telephone lne (commonly referred to as DSL), install a DSL filter to the telephone line between the telephone base and the telephone wall jack.
Getting started Battery installation and charging Install the battery as shown below. After nstallng the battery, you can make and receve short calls, • Use only the but replace the handset n the telephone base when not n use. For optmal performance, charge the battery suppled handset battery for at least 16 hours before use.
Getting started Spare battery (optional) You can keep a charged spare battery (purchased separately) n the telephone base. The spare battery compartment s located at the bottom of the telephone base. The charged spare battery allows you to quckly replace a depleted handset battery, or n the event of a power falure, make and receve short calls for up to three hours, dependng on the amount of use.
Getting started Expanding your telephone system Your LS5145 telephone system can accommodate up to 12 cordless handsets. You can add new handsets to your telephone system (LS5105, purchased separately), but each handset must be regstered wth the telephone base before use. To regster new handsets to your telephone system, see page 7.

Before usng a newly purchased handset (LS5105), t must be regstered wth the telephone base. Before regsterng an addtonal handset, make sure that the handset battery s nstalled and charged.

Below are some terms used n ths user’s manual to help you become famlar wth usng your Bluetooth devces and your new LS5145 telephone system. Active Devices list - A maxmum of two pared devces (two cell phones or one cell phone and one headset) on the Active Devices lst can be connected to the telephone base, but only one cell phone or headset can be on a call at a tme.
Bluetooth Pairing - Ths refers to the process of Bluetooth devces regsterng devce nformaton wth each other. The telephone base must be pared wth a Bluetooth enabled cell phone or headset before the Bluetooth devce(s) can be used. Dependng on the manufacturer, ths s also referred to as Bonding. •...
Bluetooth Bluetooth Setup To use a Bluetooth enabled cell phone or headset wth your LS5145, you must first pair and connect your Bluetooth device(s) with the telephone base. In the Bluetooth Setup secton, you can setup a cell phone (page 20) and headset (page 21).
5. Usng your cell phone, turn on the Bluetooth feature and search for or add new devces. 6. Once your cell phone finds the VTech LS5145 telephone base, select t. 7. Usng your cell phone, enter the PIN of the telephone base (the default PIN s 0000) to contnue the parng process.
Bluetooth Setting up headset Before you begn, make sure that your Bluetooth enabled headset s not connected to any other Bluetooth devce. Refer to your headset user's manual to determne the headset's PIN and how to set your headset n dscoverable mode.

Once a Bluetooth devce s connected to the telephone base, you can replace or remove the devce from the Active Devices lst (page 26), and vew the devce's status nformaton (page 25).
