PRE-OPERATION CHECKS

Engine Oil Level

Engine oil is a major factor
affecting engine performance
and service life. Nondetergent
and low quality oils are not
recommended, because they
have inadequate lubricating
properties.
Running the engine with
insufficient oil can cause serious
engine damage.
To avoid incorrect gauging of the
engine oil level, inspect the oil level
when the engine has cooled.
Recommended oil
Use Honda 4-stroke oil or an
equivalent high detergent, premium
quality motor oil certified to meet or
exceed U.S. automobile
manufacturer's requirements for
Service Classification SG, SH or SJ.
Motor oils classified SG, SH or SJ
will show this designation on the
50
container. Select the appropriate
viscosity for the average temperature
in your area.
SAE 10W-30 is recommended for
general, all-temperature use.
