The V.42 error correction includes the protocols LAPM (Link Access Procedure for Modem) and MNP4.

This may be necessary to ensure flawless data transmissions via the leased line. For longer two-wire lines, a lower transmitting level than the preset one may be reasonable, as reflections and echoes in the line may impede the communi- cation between the devices.
