    VENTING INSTALLATION Continued HIGH ALTITUDE INSTALLATION Your Vanguard direct-vent fireplace has been AGA tested and approved for eleva- tions from 0-2000 feet and CGA certified for elevations from 0-4500 feet. When installing this fireplace at an elevation above 2000 feet (in the USA), you may need to decrease the input rating by changing the existing burner orifice to a smaller size.

    IMPORTANT: Make sure fireplace is level before securing. If fireplace is not level it will not work properly. BHDV34NB AND BHDV34PB ® CHECK GAS TYPE Use proper gas type for the fireplace unit you are installing. If you have conflicting gas types, do not install fireplace.

    Install external regulator with the vent pointing down as shown in Figure 34. Pointing the vent down protects it from freezing rain or sleet. BHDV34NB AND BHDV34PB ® CAUTION: Use only new, black iron or steel pipe. Inter- nally-tinned copper tubing may be used in certain areas.
