RTC battery
Before removing the RTC battery, follow these steps:
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly
2. Remove the following components:
a. Bottom cover (see

c. Optical drive (see
d. Hard drive (see
e. Solid-state drive or Optane memory module (see
f. WWAN module and bracket (see
g. Keyboard (see
h. Internal frame (see
To remove the RTC battery:
Disconnect the RTC battery cable from the system board (1), and then lift to release the RTC battery

from the system board (2).
Reverse this procedure to install the RTC battery.
