Controller CPU or Scanner 1 Replacement
Follow the procedure in Table 3 to replace a Controller CPU or Scanner 1 module in an existing rack.

Step
1 Before replacing the Controller CPU module verify a copy of the current configuration
file is available and a method of loading the file is understood. See Process Control
Designer User's Guide or ControlEdge HC900 Control Station User's Guide.
2 Remove power from the rack. (recommended)
3 Remove the screws that secure the module assembly to the rack.
4 Pull the assembly to remove. For Controller CPU modules, go to step 6.
5 Remove the Scanner 1 module from the shipping container.
Note: Verify module faceplate colour (Blue or Orange) matches the original faceplate.
Set scanner address for the I/O rack using the switches on SW3. A small slotted
screwdriver or paperclip works well; avoid using pencils since the residue can
damage the switch.
switches 5, 6, 7, 8 must be OFF.
Only 1 switch position may be ON.
Switch 1 ON = Scanner 1
Switch 2 ON = Scanner 2
Switch 3 ON = Scanner 3
Switch 4 ON = Scanner 4

6 On the new CPU set/verify serial port switch settings. See Table 1 Step 3.
7 Insert the new module into the dedicated slot location in the rack. Orient the module
with module name on the left side. Align the module printed circuit board with the card
guide slots in the chassis. Press the module into the slot until the rear connector
engages the mating connector of the rack backplane. (See Figure 2)
8 Secure the module top and bottom with the captive mounting screws.
Torque settings 0,4 - 0,5 Nm (3.5 – 4.4 Lb-In.)
9 Re-apply power to the rack.
