9.4 Fuel system

9.4.1 To remove the fuel tank
WARNING: Gasoline is very flammable and
dangerous for the environment. Make sure to
prevent fire and spill.
1. Remove the frame tunnel cover, the left footrest
plate and the fuel tank cover. Refer to
the covers on page 24 .
2. Open the engine cover. Refer to
cover on page 24 .
3. Remove the tank cover. Refer to
install the fuel tank cover on page 28 .
4. Put a container below the fuel tank to collect the
gasoline. For information about fuel tank capacity,
Technical data on page 72 .

5. Disconnect the fuel return hose from the top of the
fuel tank.
6. Compress the fuel hose to prevent leakage.
7. Disconnect the fuel hose from the lower connection
of the fuel filter.
8. Pull the hose through the frame.
9. Put the end of the hose into the container and empty
the fuel tank.

10. Disconnect the fuel sensor connector.
11. Pull the fuel sensor out of the fuel tank if the fuel
sensor or the fuel tank is damaged.
12. Remove the 2 screws and lift the fuel tank. Remove
1 screw (A) from below the fuel tank and 1 screw (B)
from above the fuel tank.
13. Assemble in opposite sequence.
9.4.2 To replace the fuel filter
1. Open the engine cover to get access to the fuel
filter.
2. Move the hose clips away from the fuel filter with a
pair of flat pliers.
