Internal RTC Battery Replacement
This section describes the replacement of the internal RTC battery.
There is the danger of explosion if the battery is replaced incorrectly. Replace the battery only with the

same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacture. Dispose of used batteries according to the
manufacturer's instructions. Statement 1015
Warning
When replacing RTC battery, only use your fingers. Never use metal tools which can damage the battery.
The real-time clock (RTC) battery retains time/date and boot settings when the server is disconnected from
power. No user actions are required after you replace the battery and restore power. The system automatically
synchs with UCS Manager.
The battery type is CR2032. Cisco supports the industry-standard CR2032 battery, which can be purchased
from most electronic stores.
Procedure
Step 1
Power off the chassis and remove power cords from all power supplies.
Step 2
Remove the top cover from the chassis.
Step 3
Locate the RTC battery in its vertical holder on the motherboard.
Step 4
Remove the RTC battery. Using your fingers, gently remove the battery from the retaining clip.
Step 5
Replace the RTC battery. Using your fingers, gently insert the battery into its holder.
The flat, positive side of the battery marked with "+" must face the retaining clip.
