DVD-ROM drive
Drive indicator
The indicator flashes quickly when a CD/DVD is inserted. The indicator goes out when the drive is
ready for reading.
If the display does not go out after you have inserted a CD/DVD but glows constantly
i
although the CD/DVD is not accessed, the CD/DVD is probably damaged or dirty.
The indicator lights up when the DVD drive is accessed. The indicator flashes slowly while audio CD
playback.
Insert/Eject button
The insert/eject button is used primarily for opening and closing the drive tray. To do this you must
press the button briefly (for less than 1 second).
You can also use the insert/eject button to reduce the rotation speed if vibrations occur when you
use a CD. To do this you must hold the insert/eject button down for at least 2 seconds. The drive
now reduces speed. As soon as the drive tray is opened and closed again (for example when
replacing the CD), the drive operates at normal speed again.

Inserting a CD/DVD


Push the insert/eject button briefly.
The drive tray slides open.

Place the CD/DVD in the tray with the label facing upwards.

Push the insert/eject button briefly or push the tray panel.
The drive tray slides closed.

Removing a CD/DVD

If the indicator on the DVD drive lights up, the drive is being accessed. Wait until the

indicator is dark before pressing the insert/eject button.

Push the insert/eject button briefly.
The drive tray slides open.

Remove the CD/DVD from the tray.

Push the insert/eject button briefly or push the tray panel.
The drive tray slides closed.
If the CD/DVD is not ejected, check whether the drive tray has been locked by a software

command. If this is not the case, the drive is defective and the CD/DVD must be removed
manually.
