Mains adaptor (some versions only)
AQ 6581 Stereo Radio Cassette Player
The voltage of the 3V adaptor must match with the local voltage.
The 3.5 mm adapter plug's 1.3 mm centre pin must also be connected
to the minus pole -.

• Always disconnect the mains adaptor if you are not using it.
Battery (optional)
• Open the battery door and insert two alkaline batteries, type R6,
UM3 or AA as indicated.(Illustration: please turn over)
Use of Philips POWER LIFE batteries gives up to 18 hours of
cassette playback.
• Remove the batteries from the set if they are exhausted or not to
be used for a long time.
Environmental note:
• The packaging has been reduced to the minimum and made easy
to separate into two mono-materials: cardboard and plastic.
Please observe local regulations on the disposal of these
materials.
• Please inquire local regulations on how to hand in your old set for
recycling.
• Please dispose of exhausted batteries separately according to
local regulations and not with your household waste.
RADIO RECEPTION
AQ 6581 - Stereo Radio Cassette Player
1 Set TAPE/RADIO to RADIO.
2 Connect the headphones to the p jack.
3 Set the band selector to FM or AM(MW).
– The FM STEREO indicator lights up when receiving a FM stereo
transmitter.
4 Select your station using the TUNING control.
To improve reception
FM: The headphone cord functions as the FM-aerial. Extend it fully
and position the cord.
AM(MW): Uses the built-in aerial. Turn the entire set to find the
best position.
5 Adjust the sound with the VOLUME and DBB (bass) controls.
To obtain the Dynamic Bass Boost, push the DBB switch
upwards (on position)
6 To switch off the radio, set TAPE/RADIO to TAPE.
CASSETTE PLAYBACK
1 Set TAPE/RADIO to TAPE.
2 Connect headphones to the p socket.
3 Open the cassette door and insert a tape with the full reel on your
right.
SLOVENSKY
4 Press the cassette door lightly to shut.
5 To start playback, press 2.
6 Adjust the sound with the VOLUME and DBB (bass) controls.
7 To stop playback, press 9 and the set is switched off.
– At the end of the tape, the button is automatically released and the
set is switched off.
8 To fast wind, press 6. Press 9 to stop winding.

Using the belt clip
1 To attach, position the shaped grip (found on the back of the belt
clip) so that it fits into the belt clip hole.
2 Turn the clip to LOCK as indicated on the set.
3 To detach, gently lift the belt clip and turn to RELEASE as indicated
on the set.
TAKE CARE WHEN USING HEADPHONES
Hearing Safety: Listen at a moderate volume. Use at high volume can
impair your hearing.
Traffic Safety: Do not use headphones while driving or cycling as you
may cause an accident.
MAINTENANCE
• For quality playback, clean the magnetic head after every 50 hours
of operation or, on average once a month by playing through a
cleaning cassette.
• Do not expose the set to rain, moisture, high humidity, sand or
excessive heat e.g. heating equipment.
• Use a damp chamois cloth to wipe dust, dirt and fingerprints from the
set. Do not use cleaning agents or abrasives that may spoil your set.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If a fault occurs, first check the points listed below before taking the
set for repair. If you are unable to remedy the problem by following
these hints, consult your dealer or service center.
Warning: Under no circumstances should you try to repair the set
yourself, as this would invalidate your guarantee.
No power
– Wrong battery polarity
• Insert batteries correctly
– Batteries exhausted
• Replace batteries
Poor sound/no sound
– Headphones plug not fully inserted
• Insert plug fully
– Volume is turned down
• Turn up volume
– Tape head dirty
• Clean tape head (see MAINTENANCE)
Severe radio hum/distortion
– FM aerial (headphones cord) not fully extended
• Extend FM aerial fully
– Set too close to TV, computer, etc.
• Move set away from other electrical equipment
The model number is located at the bottom of the set.
The production number is located in the battery compartment.
