This Troubleshooting Procedure relates to the Power Supply used in the 60PC1D Generation 1
Plasma Display Panel. This explanation will assist the technician in confirming the normal
operation of the Power Supply without the need to substitute the circuit boards.
The condition of all four Supplies, the AC/DC Supply, the Standby Power Supply,
the PFC ( Pulse Frequency Coefficient ) Supply and the Switch Mode Power Supply
can be determined and confirmed.
See Page 40 for resistor placement
Step 1
Remove the Power Supply boards from the unit and place in the service position, connect boards as shown on
page 40. Place ( 2 ) 60 Watt light bulbs in series across Pins 1 and 6 of connector P8011 ( VS to GND ).
Apply AC Power to connector P801. Check for the presence of 5V ST ( Pin 3 ), AC Detect ( Pin 1 ) at connector
Step 2
P801A, and 12V at all three pins of connector P8015A measured from Chassis GND.
If the voltage is present disconnect AC Power and proceed to step three.
Step 3
Connect 100 Ohm ¼ Watt Resistor from ST 5V ( Pin3 ) to P CTL ( Pin 2 ) on connector P801A. Apply AC Power
at this time the AC Relays will close and the 380V ( PFC ) and 18 V Supplies will be present at P803A
use AC Ground for this check. Check for 19V ( Use Audio Ground ),12V, 6V, and 3.4V ( use signal Ground )
on connectors P800B and P101B. If present disconnect AC Power and proceed to step four.
Step 4 Connect 100 Ohm ¼ Watt Resistor from 5V ST ( Pin 3 ) to VS ON ( Pin 5 ) on connector P801A.
The Lamps placed across P8011 should now light indicating the presence of VS voltage. VA voltage
can be measured from Pin 10 to Pin 6 of connector P8011 at this time. If present disconnect AC Power
and proceed to step five.
Step 5 Connect 100 Ohm ¼ Watt Resistor from 5V ST ( Pin 3 ) to POD ( Pin 7 ) on connector P801A. At this time the
5VDC Supply at connector P8012 should be present and the Power Supply fully operational.
