Problems with the handset

PROBLEM
No dial tone.
When the
handset is placed
on the charging
unit, no beep is
heard.
Batteries remain
low although the
handset has
charged for 12
hours.
An error beep is
heard from the
handset when
trying to make an
internal call.

CAUSE
The handset is out of
range of the base station
(the A symbol is not
displayed).
The handset has not
been registered to the
base station (the A
symbol is not
displayed).
The base station is not
properly connected to
the electricity or the
telephone sockets.
Batteries are low (the
symbol is
displayed).
The charging unit is not
properly connected to
the electricity socket.
Charging contacts are
dirty.
Key tones are
deactivated.
The charging unit is not
properly connected to
the electricity socket.
Handset batteries are
defective.
Another external call is
already in progress from
another handset or the
base station.
Maintenance and troubleshooting
SOLUTION
Move closer to the base station
and try again.
Register the handset to the base
station (see "2.7 Registering a
handset to a base station", page
41).
Check the connections.
Charge batteries (see "Installing
or replacing batteries", page 10).
Check the connection between
charging unit and electricity
socket.
Clean them with a clean and dry
cloth.
Refer to "1.6 Switching key tones
on/off", page 39.
Check the connection between
charging unit and electricity
socket.
Please contact your PHILIPS
dealer in order to purchase new
batteries.
Retry when the current call is
finished.
