Note: If you need to modify the IP address because of a network change, you
might want to reset the device back to factory configuration by setting DIP-switch
1 or 2 to ON (see Internal DIP switches [➙ 15]) and then connect on the known
address to change the IP address.
Check the network connections
Use the Ping button in the Tools tab of the NK8237 node in Composer to check
if all device on the internal and on the external network are reachable.
LAN
Diagnostic information about the LAN state can be obtained from different
layers:
Link state LED of Repeater or Ethernet adapters gives you information about
the physical connection and the speed of the Ethernet link.
1) Select Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
2) Choose from the following commands:
Command
Meaning
Shows comprehensive information about the local PC's IP configuration (for
ipconfig /all
example, the IP address)
Lets you check the communication with an IP network participant ("n.n.n.n" is
ping n.n.n.n
the IP address to check)
Lets you continuously check the communication with an IP network
ping n.n.n.n –t
participant ("n.n.n.n" is the IP address to check)
Provides you the information about all established TCP/IP connections
Netstat
Displays the physical address translation table
arp -a

Correcting communication failures
