Error Messages During the Self-Test (POST Codes)
The hardware performs a self-test at the beginning of the system power-up.
This self-test is referred to as POST (Power On Self-Test). The individual test
steps the self-test runs through are output on I/O port 80h. For the SIMATIC
PC RI45/RI45PCS, the test steps are shown via the status display on the front
of the operator panel. If an error occurs, an error diagnosis can be made via
the POST CODE displayed on the status display or via the relevant sound
sequence (codes 01 to 4A).
In any case, you should contact your technical support team and tell them the
POST CODE or the sound sequence on the status display, if applicable.
Any errors are also output as sound sequences up to the test for the video
controller (codes 01 to 4A). The tone generation mode is structured as
follows:
Example:
2
0 0
1
1
3
4-12
Division of the byte into 2-bit
combinations
Output of this combination as a sound
sequence, that is:
0 –> one tone
1 –> two tones
2 –> three tones
3 –> four tones
There is a brief pause between tones.
