• After all null characters at or beyond the cursor location in the field have been
overwritten, or if there are no null characters, attempting to enter another
character locks the keyboard (the "more than," X OP »
indicator is displayed
on the status line). To unlock the keyboard, press the Reset Key sequence
defined for your terminal and reposition the cursor.
• If the current field spans more than one line of the screen, the insert operates
only to the end of the current line.
• Using this function when the cursor is located in an attribute character location
or is in a protected field locks the keyboard (the "go elsewhere" status line
message, X <-OP->, is displayed). To unlock the keyboard, press the Reset Key
sequence defined for your terminal and reposition the cursor.
• If the display is in enhanced null/blank processing mode, characters can be
inserted when the field contains either trailing blanks or nulls.
To exit insert mode, press the key sequence for Reset, Enter, Cursor Select, or any
other function that causes host communication.
Delete:
If the cursor is located in an input field, using the Delete function deletes
the character at the location occupied by the cursor. The cursor does not move. All
remaining characters in the field to the right of the cursor and on the same line shift
one location to the left. The empty position at the end of the row or field contains a
null character. If the input field occupies more than one row, subsequent rows are
not affected. This function cannot be used when operating as the

terminal.
Using this function when the cursor is located in an attribute character location or is

Reset:
The Reset function is used to recover from a keyboard locked condition.
The Reset function does not reset a locked condition resulting from a command
being executed for the terminal
(X
CLOCK on the status. line).
Reset causes the IDENT operation to end (the original printer ID is displayed on the
status line).
Reset causes insert mode to end.
DUP: Using the DUP function causes an asterisk
(*)
to be displayed at the current
cursor location. Also, a Tab key operation is performed causing the cursor to be
move to the first location of the next input field. The DUP character provides a
means of informing the application program that a "duplicate" operation is required
for the rest of the field in which it is located. This function cannot be used when
operating as the

control terminal.
