The Commander begins directing the team how to attack the fire: where to enter the
building, how to approach the fire area, where to get water, how to vent the fire.

The Commander notes that no windows have blown out. Since the room with the fire is
directly under the roof, it seems best to vent the smoke through the roof. He touches the
Building Information button to be sure there are no structural details that could cause
problems. (as shown in the example in Figure 5.4) Here, he sees that the roof is
tensioned concrete and tells the team that they will have to knock out a window from the
outside of the building for venting.

The Incident Commander has gathered the data required to plan the attack and relayed
the information to the team. Within two minutes of arrival, the team is containing and
putting out the fire.
