7210 SAS-D CHASSIS INSTALLATION GUIDE 2.1 Introduction The 7210 SAS-D is a service-aware Layer 3 switch with support for QinQ Layer 2 uplinks. The switch functions as an Ethernet demarcation and backhaul unit with support for four 10/100/1000 Base-T fixed copper ports and six 100/1000 SFP ports with line-rate switching on all the ports.
  • Page 13: Switch Architecture

System Overview 2.2 Switch Architecture The 7210 SAS-D employs a wire-speed, non-blocking switching fabric. This permits simultaneous wire-speed transport of multiple packets at low latency on all ports. The switch also features full-duplex capability on all ports that effectively doubles the bandwidth of each connection.

7210 SAS-D CHASSIS INSTALLATION GUIDE Installation Site Assessment 9 Installation Site Assessment Before installing equipment at a site, the characteristics of the site should be considered to determine whether they will adversely affect the reliability of the equipment. • Page 82: Installation Site Type

Installation Site Assessment 7210 SAS-D CHASSIS INSTALLATION GUIDE 9.2 Installation Site Type The site must provide the appropriate environment for the installed equipment. This usually involves controlling ingress of contaminants and ensuring that humidity remains as low as possible. Installations are typically in a hut, parking garage, room, or cabinet. Installation in data centers or telecom centers do not usually have high pollution levels but could still have high humidity levels.
  • Page 83: Cabinet

7210 SAS-D CHASSIS INSTALLATION GUIDE Installation Site Assessment 9.2.2 Cabinet There are 3 major classifications of cabinets. • Direct Air Cooled (DAC) cabinets bring air into the cabinet to cool the equipment. DAC cabinets may or may not be filtered. Unfiltered air intake and exhaust is not recommended since issues will occur if unfiltered air is allowed into the cabinet.
  • Page 84 Installation Site Assessment 7210 SAS-D CHASSIS INSTALLATION GUIDE Many areas are prone to flooding during rainy season or spring thaws, and it is important for the site to be located above typically anticipated flood levels, or to have sump pumps to keep the installation site dry.
