    ADDITIONAL IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS Oversize foods or oversize metal utensils should not be inserted in a microwave oven as they may create a fire or risk of electric shock. Do not clean with metal scouring pads. Do not store any materials other than manufacturer’s recommended accessories in this oven when not in use.

    Electric Power If the electrical circuit is overloaded with other appliances, your appliance may not operate properly. Non-metallic materials such as glass, paper and plastics are partially transparent to microwaves. Microwaves do not directly heat the oven walls and most cooking utensils because they do not absorb microwave energy.

    Before Using For The First Time Read all instructions in this manual carefully. Carefully unpack your Microwave Oven and remove all packaging materials. Place your Microwave Oven on a level surface such as a countertop or table. Be sure the sides, back and top of the Microwave Oven are at least four inches away from any walls, cabinets or objects on the counter or table.

    Using Your Microwave Oven BEVERAGE AND POPCORN Use this function to cook beverage or popcorn without entering a Cook Time or Power. Example: To cook a 3.5 oz. bag of microwaveable popcorn 1. Press POPCORN Button once. 3.5 oz will appear in Display.

    Auto Defrost The auto defrost feature provides you with the best defrosting method for frozen foods. The cooking guide will show you which defrost sequence is recommended for the food you are defrosting. For added convenience, the Auto Defrost includes a built-in beep mechanism that reminds you to check, turn over, separate or rearrange to get best defrost result.

    Defrosting Tips For best results, remove fish, shellfish, meat and poultry from its original paper or plastic package (wrapper). The wrapper will hold steam and juice close to the foods which can cause the outer surface of the foods to cook. For best results, shape your ground meat into the form of a doughnut before freezing.

    Timer The Timer operates independently of the Microwave Oven. It allows you to set up to 12 hours time (not Cook Time). Example: To set Timer for 15 minutes. 1. Press the TIMER Button 2. Press 1 5 0 0 3.

  • Page 20 Cooking Tips (Cont.) TURNING Large foods such as roasts, poultry and chops should be turned over so that the top and bottom cook evenly. ARRANGEMENT Do not stack food. Arrange a single layer on the dish for even cooking. Because dense foods cook slowly, place thicker portions of meat, poultry, fish and vegetables toward the outside of the dish.

    MEAT No special techniques are required. Meat should be prepared as with conventional cooking. Always thoroughly defrost meat before cooking (season if desired). Place the meat on a microwave roasting rack or microwave-proof plate and place on the turntable. Cook according to the Meat Cooking Table (below). Use longer time for large cuts of meats and shorter time for small cuts of meats.

    POULTRY No special techniques are required. Poultry should be prepared as with conventional cooking (season if desired). Poultry should be thoroughly defrosted. Remove giblets and any metal clamps. Prick the skin and brush lightly with vegetable oil unless the poultry is self-basing. All poultry should be placed on a Microwave roasting rack or a Microwave-proof plate and placed on the Glass Turntable.
  • Page 23 FISH Arrange fish in a large shallow non-metallic dish or casserole. Cover with pierced microwave plastic wrap or casserole lid. Place the dish on the turntable. Cook according to the instructions in the Fresh Fish Cooking Table below. Flakes of butter can be added to the fish if desired. After standing time, check to see that the fish is thoroughly cooked.

    Cleaning and Care Routine cleaning will enhance the performance and reliability of your Toastmaster Microwave Oven. Clean the oven on a weekly basis or more often if needed. To ensure safe and efficient operation, be sure to keep the inner door, door seal, hinges and latches clean and free of food residue.

Do not use any type of abrasive cleaner. Gently wipe around the inside of the door frame, seals, latches and hinges to remove any food particles and condensation.
