Troubleshooting: Diagnostic Tests
NOTE
Verify that a functional floppy disk is inserted in the unit before
proceeding with the battery tests. Test results can only be saved on a
floppy disk and printed once the tests are complete. Failure to insert
a floppy disk will result in loss of test results.
The minimum discharge capacity is 2000 mAH. Consider replacing
the battery if this number is less than 2000 mAH.
Displays, and constantly updates, the following information:
Percent of charge remaining
Battery voltage (With a reading of 80% or more for percent of charge
remaining, the battery voltage should be between 15 and 24 volts.
If battery voltage is below 15 volts, the battery may need to be
replaced.)
Battery current
If battery current is less than -0.7 amps with AC power not applied,
the main CPU may need to be replaced.
(For example: Consider replacing the main CPU if the battery
current is -0.8 amps with AC power not applied.)
Battery temperature.
Maximum and minimum battery temperature
Ambient temperature (inside the unit).
If the ambient temperature (inside the unit) is more than 10
greater than the current room temperatore.
Maximum and minimum ambient temperature
Current battery charging status
This test charges the battery to full capacity, if necessary, then monitors
a discharge cycle.
Monitored information, written to the floppy disk, includes:
Discharge capacity (in mAH)
