    Discs you can play Discs you can play Digital video discs 12 cm and 8 cm, single or double sided, single or dual layer DVDs are high density optical discs on which high quality picture and audio are recorded by means of digital signals. Audio CDs 12 cm and 8 cm.

    Basic play Playback Switch on your DVD player and your TV set. Select the correct AV input on your TV, if necessary. You may also turn on your HiFi system (properly connected to the player). Please see page 20-21 for audio CD / video CD specials. Open the disc tray using OPEN/CLOSE button on the set.

    Access to a scene Titles, chapters, tracks, or elapsed time A DVD may contain several titles which could be different movies or video programmes. These titles may be divided into chapters each of which is numbered, to give you a quick access to specific parts of the DVD. Tracks give you a quick access to specific parts of the audio CD and video CD (page 21).

    Sound and picture Virtual Surround Sound For DVDs Playing Dolby Digital (AC-3) 5.1 channel DVDs you can hear virtual surround sound as if comming from non- existant rear speakers (even if you use only a stereo TV or a two-channel stereo system). Start playback using PLAY button.

    Audio language For DVDs A movie or video programme may be recorded in more than one language (up to 8) onto the disc. So you can hear the dialogue in your own language (if available) or in the original language of the movie. Set-up, page 23. Start playback using PLAY button.

    Audio connections Surround sound If you have a Dolby* Pro Logic Surround decoder, you will get the full benefit of Pro Logic either from titles with the Dolby Surround Mark, or from DVD movies that provide full 5.1 channel Dolby Digital soundtracks. In both cases your Pro Logic decoder has to be hooked up to the 2-channel analog output of the DVD player.

    Appendix: regional codes Regional codes information This DVD player is designed and manufactured to respond to the region management information that is recorded on a DVD disc. If the region number described on the DVD disc does not correspond to the region number of this DVD player, this DVD player cannot play the disc.
