CONNECTING TO FRONT A/V INPUT JACKS When you watch a program recorded on another source (VCR or video camera), use the AUDIO/VIDEO input jacks on the front of the unit. Connect the Audio/Video output jacks of another source to the AUDIO L/R and VIDEO jacks of this unit.
CONNECTING TO A DOLBY DIGITAL DECODER (for DVD) If using this unit to play a DVD disc in a 5.1 channel Dolby Digital surround format, the unit outputs a DOLBY DIGITAL Data stream from its AUDIO OUT COAXIAL jack. By hooking the unit up to a Dolby Digital decoder, you can enjoy a more convincing, realistic ambience with powerful and high-quality surround sound as enjoyed in movie theaters.
TV OPERATION AND SETTINGS WATCHING A TV PROGRAM Plug in the unit power cord Plug the unit power cord into a standard AC outlet. NOTE: • If any digits appear in the corner of the screen, press [POWER] without unplugging the power cord.
SLEEP TIMER The Sleep Timer function turns off the unit without using [POWER] after a desired period of time. NOTE: • This function does not work during the record- ing mode. Call up the Sleep Timer Setting Press [SLEEP] so that “SLEEP 0 MINUTE” appears. Set sleep time Press [SLEEP] repeatedly until your desired sleep time appears.
CHANNEL SET UP Make sure ... • The unit must be turned on. AUTO CHANNEL PROGRAMMING As the initial setting, this unit has memorized all channels, including the ones not available in your area. This feature automatically puts only available channels into the memory.
CLOCK SET UP (AUTO / MANUAL) The unit clock must be set correctly so that VCR timer recording is possible. It is suggested that the clock be set manually when first setting up the unit, then set to [ON] the auto clock setting which will periodically correct the setting if necessary.

MTS (Multi-Channel Television sound) SYSTEM This unit have a feature that allows for reception of sound other than the main audio program. This feature is called Multi-channel Television Sound (MTS). You can listen or record mono audio sound, stereo sound, or Secondary Audio Program (SAP). SELECTING THE MTS SYSTEM You can select the MTS output mode for recording or watching the program, also the audio output mode for playing cassettes. WHEN RECEIVING AN MTS BROADCAST Press [AUDIO] repeatedly to select the MTS output mode. • The output mode changes as described below every time you press the button.

AUTOMATIC TIMER RECORDING You may set the unit to start and end a recording while you are away. You can set 8 programs to record on specific days, daily or weekly within a 1 year period. BASIC PLAYBACK Getting started ¡ Turn on the power of amplifier and any other com- ponents, if necessary. Press [POWER]. ¡ The power will turn on. Press [A OPEN/CLOSE] to open disc load- ing tray. Place the chosen disc in the tray, with the label facing up.
