It will also switch off, if left unattended in the upright position for 15 minutes.

The anti-calc cartridge removes minerals from the water, preventing scale build-up. However, in extremely hard water areas Sunbeam recommends the use of distilled or demineralised water. Do not fill the iron with fabric conditioner, starches or other solutions as these will damage the steam mechanism. - Page 9 +/- temperature buttons will flash.
