To Prepare for Hardware Installation ▼ 1. Read and observe the safety information at the back of this book. See“Safety Agency Compliance Statements” on page 2. Install the Solaris 8 2/04 (minimum required version) operating system on the host. 3. Install the Solaris 8 2/04 (minimum required version) recommended patch cluster on the host. - Page 15 Caution – Do not disconnect the power cord from the system or from the wall outlet. This connection provides the ground path necessary to safely remove and install the printed circuit boards and components without damaging them. 8. Choose a PCI-X (or PCI) slot for installing the host adapter. To maximize performance, use the host system’s 64-bit, 66/133-MHz PCI/PCI-X slot slot for installing the host adapter.
