Adjust the parameter settings as necessary.
When you selected border, drop border or shadow in step 2, when F9
(MATTE) is on (a color matte is selected as the edge fill), you can adjust
the parameters for matte 1 regardless of whether the color mix function is
on or off.
When applying a border:
