2. Change the engine oil.
3. Remove the spark plug, and pour
about a tablespoon (5 - 10 cm
clean engine oil into the cylinder.
Crank the engine several
revolutions to distribute the oil,
then reinstall the spark plug and
plug cap.
4. Slowly pull the starter grip until
resistance is felt. At this point, the
piston is coming up on its
compression stroke and both the
intake and exhaust valves are close.
Storing the engine in this position
will help to protect it from internal
corrosion.
5. Store the outboard motor in a clean
and dry area.
Before storing, clean, flush and
lubricate the outboard motor as
described on pages 68, 69 and 82.

Batteries produce explosive gases:
If ignited, an explosion can cause
serious injury or blindness. Provide
adequate ventilation when
charging.
• CHEMICAL HAZARD: Battery
electrolyte contains sulfuric acid.
Contact with eyes or skin, even
through clothing, may cause
severe burns.
Wear a faceshield and protective
clothing.
• Keep flames and sparks away,
and do not smoke in the area.
ANTIDOTE: If electrolyte gets
into your eyes, flush thoroughly
with warm water for at least 15
minutes and call a physician
immediately.
• POISON: Electrolyte is poison.
ANTIDOTE
─ External: Flush thoroughly
with water.
─ Internal: Drink large
quantities of water or milk.
Follow with milk of magnesia
or vegetable oil, and call a
physician immediately.
• KEEP OUT OF REACH OF
CHILDREN.
