STARTING THE ENGINE
6. Pull the starter grip lightly until
you feel resistance, then pull
briskly in the direction of the arrow
as shown above.
• Do not allow the starter grip to
snap back against the engine.
Return it gently to prevent
damage to the starter.
• Do not pull the starter grip while
the engine is running, as that
may damage the starter.

• The "Neutral Starting System"
prevents the starter rope from being
pulled out for starting the engine
unless the shift lever is set in the
NEUTRAL position.
• If the engine fails to start, check the
emergency stop switch clip.

7. After the engine starts, confirm that
the engine oil pressure indicator
light is lit. In the event that the
indicator is not lit, stop the engine
and perform the following checks.
1) Is the oil quantity normal?
2) If the oil quantity is correct but the
indicator lamp is not lit, have the
outboard motor checked by the
shop where you purchased it.
