Getting to know your phone. 1. Green Light: Illuminates when is pressed and when you have incoming calls and messages. 2. Dial: Press or turn to scroll through the menu and to change menu settings. 3. Message Key: Press and hold to access your voicemail box and the voicemail system.
Display icons: What they tell you. Display icons are the symbols your phone uses to communicate important information. Short When you are using your phone’s Features menu, Character you will see an “F” followed by a two-digit number. Display The two-digit number lets you know which menu item you are accessing.

the phone will sound a tone, then very soon the phone will turn off. Unfortunately, you’ll lose whatever you were just doing if this happens. So, watch the battery icon to make sure the level is sufficient. To charge your batteries, use only an approved AC adapter, desktop charger, cigarette lighter adapter, travel adapter or hands-free car kit.
Turning on your phone. Of course, before you can use your Sprint PCS Phone you’ll need to turn it on. Start by checking to see that the charged battery pack is installed. Then, simply press for approximately one second until the green light comes on and the phone beeps. Now you’re ready to make a call.
Correcting dialing mistakes. If you make a mistake while dialing a phone number, press to erase one digit at a time. You can delete the entire number at once by pressing or by pressing and holding Answering calls. First, keep in mind that the power must be on to receive calls. Note: You cannot charge calls made through operator services to your Sprint PCS Account. Using Caller ID. This feature tells you who is calling by displaying the caller’s number when the phone rings. If the caller’s name and number are stored in your phone’s internal phone book, the caller’s name will be displayed, too.

With Call Forwarding, all of your incoming calls can be forwarded to another phone number — even if your Sprint PCS Phone is turned off.
Finding out you have a message. Your Sprint PCS Phone alerts you in several ways when you have new voicemail messages: By displaying “VOICE” and “New Msgs” on the screen By sounding an alert By flashing the light at the top of the phone By displaying at the top of your screen.

Calling from the phone book. You can conveniently dial phone numbers from the phone book using the dial. 1. Beginning from the standby display, turn the dial down twice to select “Phone Book.” 2. Turn the dial to locate the desired phone book entry. (If the phone number is too long to fit on the screen, you can view the overflow digits by selecting “View Number”...
Editing a phone number. If you want to edit the name, phone number or location of an entry, just follow the steps below. You can also use the Directory menu to edit phone book numbers (see page 48). 1. Beginning from the standby display, turn the dial once to reach the “Phone List”...
(see page 50). Using the key guard. The key guard feature prevents your phone from accidentally dialing when you press a key unintentionally. To activate the key guard, press and hold the dial while the phone is in standby. The keypad will be disabled and the backlight and key beeps will be turned off until the key guard is deactivated.
4. When you find a number you want to call, just extend the mouthpiece to dial. If the mouthpiece is already extended, press or press the dial twice to call the number. You can use the Options menu to view detailed information about the call or to save the number to your phone book.

Usage guidelines: All about performance and safety. Keeping tabs on signal strength. The voice quality of your Sprint PCS Phone will always be at its best when the antenna is fully raised. If you’re inside a building, reception may be better near a window. The quality of each call you make or receive depends on the signal strength in your area.
The design of your Sprint PCS Phone complies with these updated standards. Of course, if you want to limit RF exposure even further than the updated standard, you can choose to control the duration of your calls and operate your phone in the most power-efficient manner. Disposal of batteries. You can return your unwanted batteries to your nearest Sony Service Center or Factory Service Center. Turn off your phone before flying. You should turn off your Sprint PCS Phone before boarding any aircraft. To prevent possible interference with aircraft systems, US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations require you to have permission from a crew member to use your phone while the plane is on the ground.
