To Do this
Use VIDEO Turn on your TV and switch it to
CDs or DVDs the appropriate video input.
Cancel karaoke Except for CMT-SV2D Asian and
mode Oceanian models, go to step 3.

Press MIC/ECHO on the unit
repeatedly until "MIC"
appears.

Press MIC/ECHO LEVEL – on
the unit repeatedly until "MIC
OFF" appears and disconnect
the microphone from MIC jack.

Press KARAOKE PON
repeatedly until "
disappears.

Cancel the Press MIC/ECHO on the unit
microphone repeatedly until "ECHO"
echo* appears.

Press MIC/ECHO LEVEL – on
the unit repeatedly until
"ECHO OFF" appears.
* CMT-SV2D Asian and Oceanian models only
Notes
• The instrumental sound may be reduced as well as
the singer's voice when the sound is recorded in
monaural.
• The singer's voice may not be reduced when:
– only a few instruments are playing.
– a duet is being played.
– the source has strong echoes or chorus.
– the singer's voice deviates from the center.
– the voice on the source is singing in high soprano
or tenor.
• Karaoke mode is canceled when:
– you change the disc.
– you change the function.
However, the microphone volume will not be
changed.
• With some songs, vocals may not be canceled when
you select "KARA PON".
• KARAOKE PON is not available during recording.
Tip
To sing karaoke of multiplex CD, press AUDIO
repeatedly during play to select "Left" or "Right" (see
"Changing the sound" on page 19).
Mixing and recording sounds
(CMT-SV2D Asian and
Oceanian models only)
You can "mix" sounds by playing one of the
components and singing or speaking into a
microphone (not supplied).
The mixed sound can be recorded on a tape.
Use buttons on the unit for the operation.

To stop recording

Press x.
Tips
• If acoustic feedback (howling) occurs, move the
microphone away from the speakers or change the
direction of the microphone.
• If you want to record your voice through the
microphone only, you can do so by selecting the
DVD function when a disc is load and not playing a
disc.
Prepare the source you want to mix.
Load a recordable tape.
Press the function button of the source
you want to record (e.g., DVD NX).
When you want to record from a disc, press
x twice to stop playback.
Press z REC PAUSE/START.
The tape deck stands by for recording.
"REC" flashes.
Press z REC PAUSE/START, and then
start singing, speaking or playing the
desired source.
Recording starts.
