    Getting Started Hooking up the system Perform the following procedures 1 to 3 to hook up your system using the supplied cords and accessories. Right speaker 1 Connect the speakers. Connect the right and left speaker cords to the SPEAKER terminals as shown below. AM loop antenna FM lead antenna 2 Connect the FM and AM antennas.

    Inserting two R6 (size AA) batteries into the remote Note If you do not use the remote for a long period of time, remove the batteries to avoid possible damage from battery leakage and corrosion. When the remote no longer operates the system, replace both batteries with new ones.

    CD – Play Loading a disc Press OPEN/CLOSE Z. Place a disc with the label side up on the disc tray. When you play a 8 cm disc, place it on the inner circle of the tray. Press OPEN/CLOSE Z again to close the disc tray.

    Playing repeatedly — Repeat Play You can play all the tracks or a single track on a disc. Press REPEAT on the remote during playback until “REP” or “REP1” appears. REP: For all the tracks on the disc up to five times.

    Adjusting the brightness of the display’s backlight You can change the brightness of the display’s backlight. Press DIMMER on the unit repeatedly. The backlight’s brightness changes cyclically. The brightness level is factory set at high. Viewing information about the disc in the display You can check the playing time and remaining time of the current track or that of the disc.

    Optional Components Hooking up optional components To enhance your system, you can connect optional components. Refer to the operating instructions provided with each component.     CD player The disc tray does not open and “LOCK” appears in the display. • Consult your nearest Sony dealer or local authorized Sony service facility. The disc tray does not close. • Place the disc correctly in the center of the tray.

    • Locate the antennas as far away from the speaker cords as possible. • Consult your nearest Sony dealer if the supplied AM antenna has come off the plastic stand. • Try turning off surrounding electrical equipment. A stereo FM program cannot be received in stereo.

    • When you move the system, take out any disc. If you have any questions or problems concerning your system, please consult your nearest Sony dealer. Notes on discs • Before playing, clean the disc with a cleaning cloth.
