Appendix 3. Transportation Restrictions for Lithium Batteries
Appendix 3.3 Restriction related to EU Battery Directive
EU Battery Directive (2006/66/EC) has been enforced since September 26th, 2008. Hereby, battery and
machinery incorporating battery marketed in European Union countries must be in compliance with the EU
Battery Directive.
Lithium battery provided by MITSUBISHI are subjected to this restriction.
Appendix 3.3.1 Important Notes
Follow the instruction bellow as shipping products incorporating MITSUBISHI device.
(1) When shipping products incorporating MITSUBISHI device any time later than September 26th, 2008, the
symbol mark shown as Figure 1 in section "Information for end-user" is required to be attached on the
machinery or on the package. Also, the explanation of the symbol must be added.
(2) Machinery with battery and maintenance battery produced before the EU Battery Directive are also subjected
to the restriction. When shipping those products to EU countries later than September 26th, 2008, follow the
instruction explained in (1).

This symbol mark is according to the directive 2006/66/EC
Article 20 Information for end-users and Annex II.
Your MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC product is designed and
manufactured with high quality materials and components
which can be recycled and/or reused. This symbol means
that batteries and accumulators, at their end-of-life, should be
disposed of separately from your household waste.
If a chemical symbol is printed beneath the symbol shown
above, this chemical symbol means that the battery or
accumulator contains a heavy metal at a certain
concentration. This will be indicated as follows:Hg: mercury
(0,0005% ), Cd: cadmium (0,002% ), Pb: lead (0,004% )
In the European Union there are separate collection systems
for used batteries and accumulators. Please, dispose of
batteries and accumulators correctly at your local community
waste collection/recycling centre.
