    Features The Personal Entertainment Organizer (hereafter “CLIE handheld”) functions as a personal digital organizer with features such as Date Book, Address Book, To Do List, and Memo Pad. In addition to these functions, the CLIE handheld also works as an information terminal, with an excellent extended ability to connect to other devices such as personal computers.

    Using the stylus With the CLIE handheld, you can use the supplied stylus to enter characters or specify an application you want to execute. Taking out the stylus The stylus is stored on the back side of your CLIE handheld. Pull it out as needed when using the CLIE handheld.

    Charging the CLIE Handheld Charging with the cradle Note Before you use the CLIE handheld for the first time, make sure to charge it. Connect the supplied cradle of the CLIE handheld to an AC adapter. Charging starts automatically when you put your CLIE handheld on the cradle.

    Defining the initial settings Turn on your CLIE handheld and perform the initial settings required for operation. You can familiarize yourself with your CLIE handheld by following this procedure. Press the CLIE handheld power button. Your CLIE handheld is turned on, and the “Welcome” screen appears. After a while, the “Setup”...

    Entering Data Using Graffiti writing to enter data You can use Graffiti writing commands to create letters, numbers, punctuation, and symbols. The Graffiti writing strokes include all letters, numbers, and symbols found on a standard keyboard. Writing Graffiti characters Graffiti writing includes any character you can type on a standard keyboard.

    When using Graffiti writing, keep these tips in mind: • Accuracy improves when you write large characters, you should draw strokes that nearly fill the Graffiti writing area. • To delete characters, simply set the insertion point to the right of the character you want to delete and make the backspace stroke (a line from right to left) in the Graffiti writing area.

    Space Carriage Return Writing capital letters You can make capital letters with the same stroke shapes as the basic alphabet characters. To make capital letters, you must first “shift” to caps — just as you press the Shift key on a keyboard — and then write the character strokes.

    Managing Schedules and Events (Date Book) What you can do with the Date Book The Date Book lets you quickly and easily schedule appointments or any activity associated with a date or date and time. When you open the Date Book, the current date and a list of working hours for a standard business day are displayed.

    Scheduling events You can use the Date Book to keep a day’s range of events. When you start the Date Book, it initially displays a screen showing the working time slot for the day. When you make a plan, its details are displayed to the right of the time and the time slot is automatically set to 1 hour.
