The system will then ask you to enter a new 4-digit password.

    For optimal surround sound, follow these speaker placement guidelines:

    • All speakers, except the subwoofer, should ideally be the same distance from the listening position.
    • The front speakers can be placed 1.0 to 7.0 meters (3 to 23 feet) from the listening position.
    • The center speaker can be placed up to 1.6 meters (5 feet) closer to the listening position than the front speakers.
    • The surround speakers can be placed up to 4.6 meters (15 feet) closer to the listening position than the front speakers.
    • Do not place the center and surround speakers farther away from the listening position than the front speakers.
    • If using a CRT-based TV or projector, install the subwoofer at least 0.3 meter (1.0 foot) from the TV set to prevent color irregularity.

    Sound Adjustments Changing the Sound If a DVD is recorded with multilingual tracks, you can select the language you want while playing the DVD. If the DVD is recorded in multiple audio formats (PCM, Dolby Digital, MPEG audio, or DTS), you can select the audio format you want while playing the DVD.

    Using Various Additional Functions Changing the Angles If various angles (multi-angles) for a scene are recorded on a DVD, you can change the viewing angle. For example, while playing a scene of a train in motion, you can display the view from either the front of the train, the left window of the train, or from the right window without having the train’s movement interrupted.

    Displaying Subtitles If subtitles are recorded on a disc, you can turn the subtitles on or off while playing. If multilingual subtitles are recorded on the disc, you can change the subtitle language while playing, or turn the subtitles on or off whenever you want.

    Locking Discs (CUSTOM PARENTAL CONTROL, PARENTAL CONTROL) You can set two kinds of playback restrictions for a disc. • Custom Parental Control You can set the playback restrictions so that the system will not play inappropriate discs. • Parental Control Playback of some DVDs can be limited according to a predetermined level, such as the age of the viewer.
