    1: Installing the speakers This receiver allows you to use a 5.1 channel speaker system. To fully enjoy theater-like multi channel surround sound, be sure to connect all the speakers (two front speakers, a center speaker, and two surround speakers) and a subwoofer (5.1 channel).
  • Page 12 Installing the speakers on a flat surface Before you install the speaker and subwoofer, be sure to attach the supplied foot pads to prevent vibration or movement as shown in the illustration below.     Using only the front speakers and subwoofer (2CH STEREO) In this mode, the receiver outputs the sound from the front left/right speakers and subwoofer only. When multi channel surround formats are input, the signals are downmixed to 2 channel with bass frequencies being output from the subwoofer.

    Tuner Operations Listening to FM/AM radio You can listen to FM and AM broadcasts through the built-in tuner. Before operation, make sure you have connected the FM and AM antennas to the receiver (page 21). The tuning scale for direct tuning differs depending on the area code as shown in the following table.

    Turning off the receiver with the TV (System Power Off) When you turn the TV off by using the POWER button on the TV’s remote, the receiver and the connected components turn off automatically. You can also use the receiver’s remote to turn off the TV.

    Other Operations Switching between digital and analog audio (IN MODE) You can select the audio input mode setting when you connect components to both digital and analog audio input jacks on the receiver. Press AMP MENU. “1-LEVEL” appears on the display. Press V/v repeatedly to select “5-AUDIO”.

    Connecting the DIGITAL MEDIA PORT adapter You can listen to the sound from the component connected through the DIGITAL MEDIA PORT adapter to the DMPORT jack on the receiver.
