Notes on Wide-screen Aspect Ratio Information
If a video signal input to the unit (through the
COMPONENT, S VIDEO, VIDEO, or DV jack) or a
video signal on the tape being played back contains
wide-screen aspect ratio information, the unit records
the video signal with the information or adds the
information to the output video signal as indicated in
the table below.

f : Only the wide-screen aspect ratio information added on
the color signal of an S-video signal is recorded/added.
(There are two types of wide-screen aspect ratio
information. One is inserted in the retrace interval of a
video signal and the other is added to the color signal of
an S-video signal.)

: No wide-screen aspect ratio information is recorded/
added.
1) When a video signal containing wide-screen aspect ratio
information is input
2) When a tape containing wide-screen aspect ratio
information is played back
Notes
• The unit does not convert the aspect ratio of the video
signal. The unit simply records/adds the wide-screen
aspect ratio information.
• If you use a video signal containing the information
described above and a monitor compatible with that
wide-screen signal, the video signal is displayed in
the wide-screen mode automatically. To see whether
or not the monitor is compatible with the wide-screen
aspect ratio information contained in the video signal,
refer to the instruction manual of the monitor.
