7 and 8 Channel Code Characters
The characters of the 7 and 8 channel codes a r e entered into the N register in a like fashion.
The presence of a hole in the 5th Position i s not transferred to the N register a s it i s used for a
Parity Check.
Sprocket hole punched only, indicating a tape leader or tape strip character, i s ignored.
All holes punched in Positions 1 thru 7 a r e sensed a s a Delete code and a r e not transferred to
the N register.
The transference of all positions of the 8 Channel code can be accomplished by a special optional
feature.

CHECKING FEATURES
Parity checking i s performed when reading or punching 7 or 8 channel tape. Position 5 represents
the parity bit.
