DISASSEMBLY -- CHASSIS
A. Stake the bearing holder mounting screws.
5. Tighten the final gear case cover mounting bolts (8)
to 2.3 kg-m (16.5 ft-Ibs) of torque.
6. Replace the lockwasher

with a new one, and in-
stall the ring nut

facing the chamfered side toward
the
lockwasher.
7. Tighten the ring nut

to 12.0 kg-m (87 ft-Ibs) of
torque, using the pinion joint holder and ring nut
wrench (special tools) (See Fig. G102). Bend the tab
back into the notch of the ring nut.

Pinion Gear Disassembly:
.Pull the pinion gear assembly from the final gear case
with ¢6 x P1 .0 jacking bolts and remove the shim(s)

.Pry open the staking of the pinion gear nut

with a
small chisel. Secure the pinion gear assembly in a vise
using the pinion joint holder (special tool), and then
loosen the
nut.
