Before using listening rod near spinning flywheel,
belts, etc, determine if it is long enough to avoid
moving parts.
In the l/2 and l/3 hp (0.37 and 0.25 kW) a noise
which cannot be traced to the pump is usually the check

Another noise which is not easily traceable is a
vibrating guard. Check the belt guard by applying hand
pressure to outside surfaces at different points.
