Firmware and software compatibility
CAUTION
Damage to the reader
The SIMATIC RF660R reader with a firmware version V1.1 must only be configured and
operated with the relevant SIMATIC RF660R Configuration Software V1.1.
The SIMATIC RF660R reader with a firmware version V1.2 must only be configured and
operated with the relevant SIMATIC RF660R Configuration Software V1.1 (limited
functionality) or V1.2.
No other combination of firmware and configuration software is permissible. The
Configuration Software V1.2 recognizes if it has been connected to a SIMATIC RF660R
reader with firmware version V1.2 or version 1.1.
Please therefore refer to Section "Backward compatibility" of the Configuration Manual
before you make any changes to the firmware version of the SIMATIC RF660R
Configuration Software.
NOTICE
Firmware version V1.2 and RF-MANAGER 2008
The SIMATIC RF-MANAGER 2008 can be operated with the SIMATIC RF660R reader with
firmware version V1.2. However, in the compatibility mode it only supports the functions of
firmware version V1.1. In future firmware updates of the RF-MANAGER 2008 these
limitations should no longer be present. Please visit the Internet addresses listed in Chapter
Service & Support (Page 320) regarding the availability of updates.
