Machine coordinate system (G53)

The machine zero point represents the point that is specific to a machine and ser-
ves as the reference point of the machine. A machine zero point is set by the MTB
for each machine tool. A machine coordinate system consists of a coordinate sy-
stem with a machine zero point at its origin.
A coordinate system with a machine zero point set at its origin is referred to as a
machine coordinate system. By using manual reference position return after
power-on, the machine coordinate system is set. Once set, the machine coordinate
system remains unchanged until power--off.

How to select a machine coordinate system (G53)
Once a position has been determined in terms of machine coordinates, the tool
moves to that position in rapid traverse. G53 is a one--shot G code. Thus, any
command based on the selected machine coordinate system is effective only in the
block where G53 is issued. The G53 command has to be determined by using ab-
solute values. Program the movement in a machine coordinate system based on
G53 whenever the tool should be moved to a machine--specific position.
Compensation function cancel
When the G53 command is specified, cancel the tool nose radius compensation
and tool offset.
G53 specification right after power- -on
At least one manual reference position return must be applied after power--on,
since the machine coordinate system must be set before the G53 command is de-
termined.
If an absolute position detector is attached, this is not required.
Reference
A machine coordinate system is set whenever manual reference position return is
applied after power--on, so that the reference position is at the coordinate values
set using MD 34100, REFP_SET_POS.
